“Dr. Sharot’s research is fascinating and insightful. Her keynote address will be a great launch for Inventures as it illuminates why we humans do some of the baffling and amazing things we do, and it will give the over 4,000 people in attendance an ‘optimistic’ boost to step off with,” said Alberta Innovates CEO Laura Kilcrease.
A professor at University College London, Sharot is currently a visiting professor at MIT and directs the Affective Brain Lab, where her team identifies ways to encourage behavioural change. Sharot is also the author of several books, including The Influential Mind: What the Brain Reveals About Our Power to Change Others (Henry Holt, 2017) and The Optimism Bias: A Tour of the Irrationally Positive Brain (Pantheon, 2011).
