Evan Coopersmith read ‘Moneyball’ in 2003, bribed a brilliant friend (and current colleague) with pizza in 2005, and by 2006 the two were betting on baseball games nightly. This led to a hedge fund startup in Manhattan in 2008 (admittedly, not the optimal moment) and doctoral work predicting soil moisture in Illinois. After postdoctoral collaboration between NASA and the USDA, which included satellites, gophers and off-road vehicles, he found himself in the private sector, leading an advanced analytics team through the pandemic – and searching for meaning. Evan reads, writes and speaks about BCI, AGI and whatever else yields compelling essays and parodies.
