A scientist-turn-entrepreneur, Matt obtained his PhD in cell biology at the University of Alberta before founding Future Fields in 2018. Following his graduate studies, Matt held a postdoctoral position in one of Canada’s top tissue engineering labs. He was also one of the first Canadian researchers in the field of cellular agriculture through a New Harvest seed grant that was awarded during his graduate studies. In his time as CEO of Future Fields, Matt has raised over $12 million in venture capital and non-dilutive grant funding, brought Future Field’s novel technology to commercialization in just over a year, and built the team from 3 founders to 30+ people.
