, Convergent ResearchDr. Sumner Norman is a scientist at Convergent Research. He is also a BCI strategist at AE Studio and a visiting affiliate at Caltech. His work aims to give abilities back to people living with a neurological injury or disease. He is known for developing a new, less invasive method for high-performance brain-computer interfacing or “BCI” during his time as a postdoctoral fellow at Caltech. Before that, he trained as an NSF graduate research fellow in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Sumner has devoted his studies to human-machine interaction, and has published his research across the fields of neuroscience, computer science and robotics.
